Broiler Management

Cover all aspects of managing broiler flock(s) and starts off by setting the scene for how the integrated supply chain should work, the daily challenges encountered, and different types of farming systems. Each module explores, in detail, the theory behind good husbandry practices and links them with practical examples to implement on farms.

  • Weighing – Understanding the importance of weighing at farm level and to the processing plant

  • Broiler Economics – How to make more money and lose money at farm level

Day 3


  • Spent on Farm looking at ventilation, vaccination and gut health

Day 4

  • Catching - Best Practices and Understanding the Impact to your flock

  • Poultry House and Farm Design – Simple farm design and understanding the standard requirements for new builds

  • How to use Data – interpreting the data you record and how to use it

Day 5


  • A tour through the processing plant – A virtual tour around the processing plant to understand the flow and concepts

  • Lairage through primary processing explained

  • Primary through Secondary Processing and storage

  • Downgrades and Condemnations - Causes and Actions

  • Further processing

  • Economics of processing – Understanding the pit falls and gains of the processing plant
